This site has been setup to compliment the "bricks and mortar" Information centre at the bottom of Fore Street in Buckfastleigh.
Iniitally, we're going to link to all the other attractions in Buckfastleigh with a brief summary for each one and further links to their own websites (where avalable).
Local Attractions
- The Valiant Soldier
- The pub where time was never called... The Valiant Soldier was an active pub in Buckfastleigh which closed in the late 1960’s and never re-opened. Everything was literally left as it was and today, it’s open as a museum, giving visitors a glimpse of the past…
- Devonia Products
- Devonia sheepskins have been produced in the small town of Buckfastleigh on the edge of Dartmoor, in Devon, for some 200 years. The tannery has always procured the highest grade lambskins from locally bred flocks of sheep. The combination of traditional processing techniques handed down over the years to the current highly skilled craftsmen and the use of the local lambskins makes the Devonia sheepskin a unique and sought after product.
- Buckfast Abbey
- Buckfast Abbey is home to a Roman Catholic community of Benedictine monks.
- Dart Rock Climbing Centre
- Dart Rock climbing Centre is the home of indoor rock climbing in Devon, Cornwall and the South West. Built by climbers for everyone. Dart Rock provides indoor and outdoor rock climbing activities to the highest of standards in an encouraging and fun atmosphere.

- Dartmoor National Park

- South Devon Railway
- South Devon Railway is a seven mile former Great Western Railway branch line, built in 1872, which runs along the stunning valley of the River Dart between Buckfastleigh and Totnes. We run steam trains with heritage rolling stock and offer a wonderful all day attraction for families and people of all ages.
- Otters and Butterflys
- Buckfast Butterflies and Dartmoor Otter Sanctuary offers a great, enjoyable, otter and butterfly educational experience. Wander around the otter sanctuary and butterfly farm and see new butterflies emerge in tropical surroundings. See the otters swimming underwater in specially built glass enclosures. Follow the otter keeper around at feeding times. Learn about the otter, its recreational and family life whatever the weather.
